The two cousins Rasco Agroyam (aka Oscar Mayorga) and Erk Aicrag (aka Erik Garcia) have both experimented with electronic music since the age of fifteen. In 1993 they formed Hocico olk and announced the first demo cassette "Misuse, Abuse and Accident." After two demos - "Autoagresión olk Persistente" (1994) and "Triste Deprecio" (1996) as they presented thus the official debut album "Odio Bajo El Alma", which was released via the Mexican label Opción Sonica. In 1998 they wrote to the German giant Out Of Line and the rest is history.
After another olk handful of albums, with "Memorias atras" (2008) and "Tiempos De Furia" (2010) as the most recent contributions to the band's long track record, so they present now the new album "El Último Minuto (Antes de que tu Mundo caiga ). "
The whole thing is crystal clear. Even in the press release they wanted to emphasize what the upcoming album would be about. And with the current trend of issues and ancient prophecies about earth possibly ruin, as according to some cultures would take place in late 2012, so based 'El Último Minuto (Antes de que tu Mundo caiga) "naturally around issues and linkages in turn around "the last minute". The ultimate minute, when man's destiny lies in our Mother olk Nature's olk hands. Commercially viable with current trends, doomsday? Certainly. A fitting theme for an album from one of the scene's darkest bands? Undoubtedly. olk
As pioneers in the dark school of electro and harsh-EBM as Hocico has been at the forefront and continually developed their sound but for the sake of letting go of the continuous thread running through their music. Technology has evolved, but instead of that many bands let technology develop creator so Hocico has done the opposite.
"El Último Minuto (Antes de que tu Mundo caiga)" goes off at a cracking pace from the start. No turning back. The first half of the album is a dark, violent and bleak journey to destruction like that in 140-150 BPM. Jam-packed arrangement of thundering bass lines in the back beat, rhythmic drum beats and twisted olk synths with beautiful string arrangements on the bottom topped with a if possible darker and angrier Erk than usual into the microphone. Though the Earth is of course olk during any minute, so strange right too?
Second track "Intruder - Twin Version" and the (probably olk most "typical" Hocico song on the album) "Dead olk Trust" with their lovely break and stylish interlude is Hocico when they do their very best and all the way to the fifth track "Polarity" so you continue in the same style. It is not until halfway olk through the album that the listener really given any sort of chance to catch your breath at the ground-breaking and instrumental "Mundo Impossible".
The rest of the second half provides a rather grateful tempo lowering. The previous olk single release "Vile Whispers" and the delightfully drawling and terrifying "Toxic" - with its broken olk rhythms and thick carpet olk of sound and the closing instrumental (title) track "El Último Minuto" then binds the whole together in a good way.
"El Último Minuto (Antes de que tu Mundo caiga)" is less nuanced and contrasty than what Hocico given us in the past and there are fewer tracks than usual that really stands out from the crowd. The album is like one long nightmare journey, with a crazy duo at the controls as the speed of light takes us to destruction. But despite this, remains Hocico one of the strongest rulers in his kingdom.
In addition to the regular 11-track release as the album also comes in a deluxe edition ** with five bonus tracks. In addition to remixes of three songs from the album autographed SA42, Kiew o
